Bald is bold. Insulin pump, sensor & phone = diabetes fashion. I want to be accepted. Anything, just let it be healthy. Four messages capturing the essence of the Yuppi Camp universe were placed on walls in downtown Cluj on Thursday. The letters were made from colorful balloons to emphasize the impact of the messages in contrast with the playful character of the balloons. Yuppi Camp runs experiential therapy camps for children with chronic and severe illnesses.

Through this event, Yuppi Camp aims to draw attention to the daily challenges and realities of young people and children with chronic and severe illnesses, as well as the difficulties they and their families face. Yuppi Camp wanted to show the Cluj public their stories and testimonies, so each message was also accompanied by a written or video testimony from a young person or a parent who is a beneficiary of Yuppi Camp.

One of the shared stories was about a young woman who was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and decided to shave her head. Another testimony was from a young man who, as a child, faced leukemia and found it very difficult to talk about it. Everything changed when, at the experiential therapy Yuppi Camp, he met other children in the same situation as him. Since then, he has also been a volunteer at Yuppi Camp.

Another story presented to the Cluj public was the moment when, as a parent, you learn that your child is diagnosed with a chronic illness and how this diagnosis changes the entire family’s life. Cluj residents could also read the account of a mother who had longed for a child, finally became pregnant after many attempts, and then, just a few years later, found out that her child had diabetes.

All these materials can be found at https://yuppicamp.ro/despre-noi/povestile-copiilor, and on YouTube here and here.

The messages were displayed on Thursday, October 3, in downtown Cluj at Cinema Arta, at Cofeels Café, at the Yuppi Camp headquarters, and at the Sapientia University Rectorate on Matia Street.
