"Mommy, I don't want to have a boo-boo again." Lisa's fight against cancer.

At 5 years old, Lisa was diagnosed with Wilms tumor — a kidney cancer. What started as stomach pains after a beach day turned into an emergency surgery and 28 rounds of chemotherapy.

💔 "When we got the diagnosis, it felt like a movie playing in front of me. After the results came in, a doctor told me they would have to remove her kidney. Then she left, and I was alone with that news. I had to hold onto the walls just to make it back to my child" - confesses Alina, Lisa's mom.

When the cancer returned — tumors in both lungs — doctors told them to prepare for the worst and enjoy the time they had left.

"We couldn't accept that. We felt we had to do everything in our power to save our little girl" - says Alina.

They packed up their lives and moved to Italy for nearly a year of treatment. When Lisa stabilized, she had one wish — to go home. She missed her friends, her grandparents, her cousins, and her cats. 🐱

Today, Lisa is 11, in fourth grade, and full of life and dreams. 🌟

She speaks about the treatment period calmly, with a maturity beyond her years:
"Honestly, from my time in the hospital I only remember good things — everyone coming to encourage me, telling me I was a brave little girl. It was hard too, but I got through it. There was pain. A lot. And so much fear. I was very scared when I found out they were going to operate on me — but then I relaxed."

June 7th is National Cancer Survivors Day.

This story is for every child who is fighting, every family holding on, and everyone who chooses to stand by their side.

Wishing you strength, hope, courage and lots of love! Hugs!
